Welcome...

... to the rusty rivet blog.

The humble rivet has been at the heart of Scottish engineering from ship building to major structures. It is now obsolete as far as new construction and engineering goes, but it serves as a link to the great engineering feats of the past. The Forth Bridge, for example had 6.5 million rivets.

The purpose of this blog is to highlight and discuss primarily Scottish engineering achievement from past to present. It will also critically review the state of Scotland's built environment and infrastructure, and those charged with maintaining and improving it.
